Reindeer season stretches from 1st of august to 31st of october.
I personally prefer september and october hunts, but we can go, when you can go.
There are no roads or trails anywhere, so we sail out into the fiord, to go hunting. We can do daytrips (AUG and SEP) or stay overnight, for instance in a cabin, on a ship or a boat, or if you feel like a bit of luxury, we can go glamping.
In Greenland we hunt for meat to feed the family, so nothing gets left behind. We are in the outback, with no one to help us, so we all carry our own weight.
Ptarmigan sesaon stretches from the fall to spring, and one of the reasons I prefer september and october hunts is that we can hunt both reindeer, ptarmigan and rabbits.
The greenlandic ptarmigan is a popular treat in the greenlandic kitchen, and they are hunted the entire season as meat for the family.
We hunt with rimfire rifles (22LR or 17 HMR) and they are taken from the ground with silencers to get as many as possible.
The best months for ptarmigan are march and april.
Rabbit sesaon stretches from summer to spring, and one of the reasons I prefer september and october hunts is that we can hunt both reindeer, ptarmigan and rabbits.
The greenlandic rabbit is a popular treat in the greenlandic kitchen, and they are hunted the entire season as meat for the family.
We hunt with rimfire rifles (22LR or 17 HMR)
The best months for rabbits are september and october. They are still white, and the snow hasnt fallen yet.
Duck sesaon stretches from fall to spring.
Greenland is one of the only places in the world, you can hunt for King Eider. We hunt from closed boats with heated cabins and use shotguns for the hunting.
The best months for King eiders are february and march.
